Top charts
The publicly-listed rankings of the most-downloaded apps in each category, shown in the Apps and Games tabs.
Top charts are the editorial-feeling lists Apple and Google publish in their store apps. Free, Paid, and Top Grossing are the three main lists, broken down by category. Charting in the top 100 of any category drives meaningful organic discovery. Charts are computed from a rolling-window install volume — Apple's exact formula is undisclosed but is approximately the last 24-72 hours, weighted by store country. Charting also creates a positive feedback loop: more visibility brings more installs, which sustains the chart position.
